Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it and how long we keep it. Household benefits work means we sometimes handle sensitive information — age, health, disability and military service. We have tried to describe that plainly rather than bury it.
What we collect
We collect only what a given service requires.
- Contact information — name, email address, phone number, mailing or property address.
- Business information — entity type, registrations, financial and operational details you provide for a grant or incentive engagement.
- Household information for an audit — household size, age of each member, income range, housing and utility situation, property owned or being purchased, and transportation access.
- Sensitive information, only if you provide it — illness, disability or care needs, and veteran or military service status.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Basic website data — standard server logs and, if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics that do not identify you individually.
Sensitive information
Age, health, disability and military service determine eligibility for a large share of the programs we look for. We cannot do the work without them, so we collect them — but only for that purpose.
We ask for categories, not diagnoses. “Requires help with daily activities” is what the eligibility rules turn on; the underlying medical detail is almost never needed, and we do not ask for it.
We do not use health, disability or service information for marketing, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build profiles of you.
How we use it
- To identify programs you or your organization may qualify for, and to prepare the reports and applications you engaged us for.
- To communicate with you about your engagement, including deadlines and required documents.
- To deliver the alert subscription you purchased, targeted to your state.
- To process payments, keep business records, and meet our tax and legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep it
- Audit and engagement records — three years from completion, so we can answer questions, support a renewal or re-check, and meet record-keeping obligations. Grant engagement files may be kept longer where a federal award requires it.
- Subscription records — for as long as you subscribe, then twelve months after cancellation.
- Payment and tax records — as long as tax law requires.
- Sensitive health, disability and service information — deleted on request at any time, and otherwise on the schedule above.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See below.
Your rights
Whatever state you live in, you may ask us to do the following, and we will honor the request unless the law requires us to keep something.
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your information.
- Send you a copy in a portable format.
- Stop sending you marketing email at any time.
Email info@bgrants.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a request. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have additional rights under those laws, including the right to appeal a refusal, and we honor those too.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted transmission and reputable vendors, and we limit who inside the business can see sensitive files. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires and tell you what happened.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 except as part of a household composition provided by a parent or guardian for an audit — and then only age, never contact details.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers. If we add analytics, it will be a privacy-respecting tool configured not to identify individual visitors, and this policy will be updated to say so.
Changes to this policy
We will update the “last updated” date when this policy changes. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will email you before it takes effect.
