Accessibility
A large share of the programs we work with exist for people with disabilities, older adults and disabled veterans. A site they cannot use would be a poor advertisement for that work.
Our commitment
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the ADA in most enforcement contexts and by Section 508 for federal work. We treat it as a floor, not a finish line, and we fix what gets reported.
What we have built in
- Semantic structure — real headings, lists, tables and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate the page rather than read it as one block.
- Full keyboard operation — every link, button, filter and expandable section works without a mouse, with a visible focus outline.
- A skip link to jump past the navigation.
- Colour contrast that meets AA for body text in both light and dark themes, with colour never used as the only way to convey meaning.
- Respect for reduced motion — animation and transitions are disabled when your system asks for it.
- Text that scales — the layout reflows to 200% zoom and down to a small phone without horizontal scrolling.
- Native controls for expandable content, so assistive technology announces state correctly.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than pretend they do not exist.
- Checkout and subscription pages are hosted by our payment processor and are not under our direct control. If you hit a barrier there, contact us and we will take your order another way.
- Government forms and portals we help you file through are built by agencies. We cannot fix them, but we can complete them with you.
- Documents we send are being brought up to full tagged-PDF accessibility. Ask and we will send any report as accessible HTML or plain text instead.
Alternative formats and assistance
Anything on this site or in any report is available in another format at no cost. That includes large print, plain text, accessible HTML, or simply reading it to you over the phone.
If any part of this site or our service is difficult for you to use, email info@bgrants.com or call (312) 650-9266. Tell us what you were trying to do. We will help you finish it first, and fix the page second.
Reporting a barrier
We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not complaints. When you report one, tell us the page, what you were using (browser, screen reader, magnifier) and what happened.
- We acknowledge every report within 2 business days.
- We tell you our plan and a target date within 10 business days.
- If a fix will take time, we give you a working alternative in the meantime.
