Cancellation & refunds
How to cancel, what gets refunded and when. We have written this to be readable in two minutes, because a cancellation policy you have to decode is a bad one.
Cancelling your alert subscription
You can cancel at any time, two ways:
- Click Cancel subscription in the footer of any alert email.
- Email info@bgrants.com from the address you subscribed with, and write “cancel.”
No phone call. No form. No retention offer to decline. We confirm your cancellation by email within one business day.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep receiving alerts until then, and you are not charged again.
Subscription refunds
- Monthly ($4.99) — cancel any time. We do not refund a partial month, but you are never charged again after cancelling.
- Annual ($49.99), first purchase — full refund if you cancel within 14 days of the charge.
- Annual, renewal charge — full refund if you cancel within 14 days of the renewal. After that, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid year.
- Charged after cancelling? Tell us and we refund it in full, no questions.
Renewal reminders
Annual subscribers receive an email reminder at least seven days before each renewal charge, stating the amount, the date and how to cancel. Monthly subscribers are reminded of the renewal terms in the footer of every alert.
Household Benefits Audit
The $299 Household Benefits Audit carries our guarantee: if the report does not identify at least $1,000 in programs you qualify for, the audit is free.
- Email us within 30 days of receiving your report to claim it.
- We refund the full fee to your original payment method within 10 business days.
- You do not have to apply for anything or receive any money to claim it.
If you cancel before we have started work, you receive a full refund. Once the report is delivered, the guarantee above is the applicable remedy. The full terms are in section 5 of the Terms of Service.
Focused Review and filing support
- Focused Review ($149) — full refund if cancelled before work begins. The $1,000 guarantee does not apply to this tier, because it deliberately covers one track only.
- Audit + filing support ($649) — full refund before work begins. If you cancel after the audit is delivered but before the working call, we refund the difference between this tier and the standard audit.
Property & Project Incentive Review
Full refund if you cancel before we begin. Once research has started, we refund any portion of the fee not yet earned, and we will show you the work completed to date.
If you continue into a grant writing or capture engagement, the full review fee is credited against your first retainer instead of refunded.
Grant writing and consulting engagements
Larger engagements are governed by the written agreement you sign, which sets out scope, fees and termination. In general:
- Either party may end an engagement in writing at any time.
- You pay for work performed up to the termination date; we refund any unearned retainer within 10 business days.
- We hand over drafts and research completed to date, so nothing is stranded.
- Fees are never contingent on an award, so ending an engagement never triggers a success fee.
How to request a refund
Email info@bgrants.com with the name on the order and what you would like refunded. You do not need to give a reason.
- We reply within 5 business days.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days.
- Your bank may take a few additional days to post it.
A note on chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, please email us before disputing a charge with your bank. We would rather refund you directly and quickly than argue with a payment processor, and in almost every case we will.
